Educational benefit vouchers are a system in which the Ministry of Education, the Office of Education, and the Korea Scholarship Foundation provide support for educational expenses required for various educational activities. Starting from 2023, educational benefit (educational activity support expenses) support will be provided in the form of vouchers in the form of card points rather than the existing cash account transfer method. It has changed.

Educational benefits are provided to students enrolled in or attending elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and lifelong education facilities recognized by academic ability, and are applicable to cases where the household’s recognized income is less than 50% of the standard median income.

□ Personal application: Individuals who are 14 years of age or older and are recipients of education benefit vouchers
□ Proxy application: Applicant for education benefits, head of household according to resident registration information, or adult household member of the same household
For students under 14 years of age, a guardian must apply on behalf of the student.
Applications are only available from 9:00 to 22:00 every day from Thursday, March 2, 2023 to Friday, June 28, 2024.
The application period is divided into a ‘pre-registration’ period for families receiving existing education benefits and a ‘main application’ period.
Pre-registration period: From Thursday, March 2, 2023 to Monday, March 20, 2023
This application period: From Wednesday, March 29, 2023 to Friday, June 28, 2024
Applications for education benefit vouchers can currently only be made online through the education benefit voucher website.

Let’s learn step by step how to apply for education benefits on the education benefit voucher website.
1) Selection of applicant: Students over 14 years of age can apply on their own, or parents or under 14 years of age can apply by proxy.
2) Consent to use of personal information, etc.: Agree to all required consents
3) Identity verification: Verify the applicant’s identity through identity verification methods such as simple authentication, joint/financial certificate, or mobile phone authentication.
4) Confirmation of support recipient: Enter information on the student eligible for support or in case of proxy application
5) Selection of payment method: Select a credit/debit card held by the applicant or a prepaid card.
6) Confirmation and completion of application: After checking the application details, click Application Complete.
In the same way as the disaster relief fund method, the voucher is supported by charging a credit card or check card in the applicant’s name that has already been issued and used at home, so the voucher can be used with an existing credit or check card without issuing a separate card.
Educational activity expenses per student are supported.
Annually, elementary school students receive 415,000 won, middle school students receive 589,000 won, and high school students receive 654,000 won.
Payments may be made differently depending on the school, and there may be differences in the actual amount allocated to each individual due to deductions from priority support for other welfare projects.
Card points will be recharged within 2 to 5 days after completing the online application.
※However, if you applied for a prepaid card at the time of application, voucher points will be charged after the prepaid card is delivered to the address you provided and the applicant has confirmed receipt.
The expiration date for using the education benefit voucher is from the date of voucher allocation until Saturday, August 31, 2024.
Please note that if you do not use it all by the expiration date on August 31, 2024, the remaining balance will be automatically forfeited in full.
It can be used in most industries except those unrelated to educational support purposes.
Not allowed: Use is restricted in entertainment, gambling industries, places where minors are not allowed, gift certificates, adult product stores, hygiene businesses, etc.
