One flight ticket was refunded because I booked the wrong date.

Other flights were issued temporarily due to incorrect reservations, but were canceled within 24 hours.

 

Both were Jeju Air, and Trip.com said that it does not make any profit from refund fees, etc., and that it follows the airline’s refund fee regulations, so please note that the information is based on the Jeju Air refund fee.

I should have booked the flight on 8/15, but I booked it on the 16th.

The day I noticed it was 8/5.

I knew that if I canceled my flight 11 days in advance, the refund fee would be relatively high.

 

Since I had booked a Jeju flight through Trip.com, I applied for a refund through Trip.com and looked into the cancellation penalty policy on the Jeju Air airline site.

However, about 4 hours later, an email comes from Trip.com…

 

The ticket price was 110,000 won, but a cancellation fee of 36,000 won was charged.

Even if it was only 20,000 won, I might have passed on it, but what is this absurd 4 times the fee?

 

It was only at this time that I searched ‘Trip.com refund’ on Google and realized that it was notorious…! I decided to get my commission of about 60,000 won back.

 

First, I requested a refund through Trip.com.

If you are also concerned about the refund fee being too high, please request a refund first.

If, like me, you were informed earlier that you need to check the airline’s refund fee, it doesn’t matter if you request it first, as the airline will confirm the cancellation fee and then process a refund if you agree. Requests do not immediately result in cancellation.

After this, if you receive information about the refund fee by email, just reply to the email (it takes about 1 to 5 days).

Of course, I called customer service 4 times for 40 minutes each and waited, but no one answered.

Don’t stress and just request it via email.

I endured my anger for 5 days and waited for a reply.

Since I applied for a refund as of 8/5, I checked again on that day and found that the refund fee was 10,000 won. They said they would help me apply for a refund.

I want to cancel a flight booked on the same day for free within 24 hours, but a fee is charged.
Since I booked the wrong airline ticket, I booked a new one as a temporary measure. (I should have made a reservation on another platform at that time ^^)

And while trying to get a refund on Trip.com, I thought, ‘This isn’t the place…’ and tried to cancel the flight ticket I booked on the same day… but they charged me a fee of 17,800 won.

Customer service also does not answer phone calls.

 

First, request a refund from Trip.com. As mentioned above, it will take time for the airline to confirm and inform you of the cancellation fee anyway, so you can resolve the issue by requesting a 0 won fee within that period. And, unless I agree after receiving the fee information, I will not arbitrarily provide a refund.

Write an email first.

What I wrote is that Trip.com charges a fee according to airline regulations, so I checked with Jeju Air and the fee and penalty for cancellation within 24 hours is 0 won. Please check. It is written in this way.

 

Within a few hours after requesting cancellation, Jeju Air sent me an email directly (Jeju Air was kind).

 

 

Jeju Air will send you an email confirming that the fee is 0 won.

With this, I can prove to Trip.com that the fee is 0 won.

Send a second email to Trip.com, attaching the email sent from Jeju Air.

8/10 I wrote an email requesting a refund.

On 8/14 (it took 4 days), they said they would check with the proof of the airline refund fee of 0 won that I submitted.

It was on 8/15 that I finally received an email saying a full refund was possible.

 

And strangely…!

Even though I called for hours, the customer service center that didn’t answer calls me first!!!

 

They gave me information regarding refunds, but I called to inform them that the system is such that 10,000 won is refunded first and the remaining amount is refunded at once at a later time.

Actually, I didn’t really understand, but since I received confirmation from the kind customer service representative and two full refunds and a 10,000 won fee, I decided to trust it and wait.

For those who make reservations through Trip.com:

– People who are comfortable with long refund and cancellation periods because they have the financial means to do so.

– People who rarely have to cancel (like a flight tomorrow…)
