I had to get a check-up every month, but since there was no one to help me get to the hospital, I received support from anyone who would accompany me to the hospital through a care service.
#Case 3: Mr. C, who lives with his parents who cannot live without care, recently had to be hospitalized due to a car accident. Since he did not receive public care services, he had no place to seek help urgently. He was able to overcome the crisis of his parents’ care gap until he was discharged from the hospital through anyone’s care service.

Gwangmyeong City, Gyeonggi-do, announced that it will implement the ‘Gwangmyeong Care Project for Everyone, Care Together’, which can be used by any citizen, starting on the 29th. The purpose of this project is to provide prompt care services to all citizens by filling the gaps in care that occur due to absence of family members, service delays, and lack of infrastructure. In particular, it is implemented to strengthen support for care-vulnerable groups such as elderly households, single-person households, households with disabilities, and households with young adults living alone, which are relatively in need of care.
Through this project, Gwangmyeong City provides support for those who have difficulty moving around alone or performing independent daily activities, who do not have family members to take care of them, who do not use public care services, or who have unavoidable gaps in service use, ▲ Living care ▲ Companion care ▲ We provide five services, including housing safety, meal support, and temporary protection.
The city determines the urgency of a service application and provides customized services by visiting the site immediately in urgent cases and within 72 hours in general cases. Services are provided by eight organizations, including welfare facilities, social enterprises, medical institutions, and cooperatives, that have signed business agreements with the city. However, meal support will be provided as soon as the provider is determined.
Living care is a service that supports physical and household activities such as washing up and preparing meals, and companion care is a service that accompanies people to hospitals, government offices, and banks. The housing safety service provides support for home repairs such as replacing water, insect screens, and lights, and provides meal support, including regular meals, porridge, and patient meals. Temporary protection is a service that provides comprehensive protection, care, and other services to users who have entered a facility for a certain period of time.
The service is available to all citizens. However, the amount used is differentiated depending on income. Within the range of KRW 1.5 million per person per year, 50% of the amount is supported for those earning less than 150% of the median income, and the entire amount is supported for those earning less than 120% of the median income. You can use the service by paying more than 150%.
In order to minimize the gap in care, the city self-discovers potential care recipients in addition to the applicant, and cooperates with the Gyeonggi-do Emergency Welfare Crisis Counseling Call Center, the local community security council, honorary social welfare officials, and welfare-related organizations to additionally discover those who can use care services. We plan to support it.
A city official said, “As population changes and household types change rapidly, the number of vulnerable groups for care is gradually increasing,” and “We will do our best to promote the project so that we can carefully care for those in urgent need of care.”
