If you are an Instagram user, you may have been puzzled by the phrase ‘Your account has been hacked’ at one time or another. If you are already logged in and your account is locked due to hacking, you must log out first. Please refer to the image above and proceed to ‘Settings->Logout’. This is because the password retrieval/reset will be performed in the app that is not logged in!

There are two options: Send Email or Send SMS. You can use either method, but I personally recommend ‘Send Email’. This is because when using SMS sending, password reset is not possible, only login proceeds.
Click Send Email and go to your mailbox.
You may not have any emails from Instagram in your mailbox. In this case, check whether the inbox is separately classified into the social media mailbox, not the inbox. You can find password recovery emails from Instagram in your social media mailbox.
Please do not click ‘Login’ immediately, click ‘Reset password’ to create a new password. This is because it is better to set a new password rather than using the old password when searching for passwords due to Instagram hacking.
