전북 군산 가볼만한 곳The Korea Tourism Organization introduces ‘weekend outing’ tourist attractions by theme every month, and Gunsan Time Travel Village was recommended as a place that perfectly preserves the old sensibility of ‘Our Neighborhood Retro’ and fits the theme of time travel.
Time Travel Village is a place where the exploitation site during the Japanese colonial period and Gunsan’s unique history and culture that resisted it are alive and breathing, and it has been recognized as a representative retro travel destination where you can experience a special time travel to the modern era that transcends time and space.
The recommended course starts with the Gunsan Modern History Museum, where you can learn about the old Gunsan and the modern Gunsan lifestyle, and then we recommend visiting the Modern Architecture Museum (former Chosun Bank Gunsan Branch), the Modern Art Museum (former Japanese 18th Bank), Haemanggul, Shinhung-dong Japanese-style house, Dongguksa Temple, and the Chowon Photo Studio, the filming location of ‘Christmas in August’. In particular, Malrang Village is a unique residential area built along a hillside since the 1930s, and it is attracting attention as a retro travel destination where young people are filling the old space with art galleries, bookstores, and workshops with cute alleys and old empty houses from the 70s and 80s.
A city official said, “We will strive to develop various contents that can evoke memories and curiosity for many visitors to the Time Travel Village where modern culture breathes.”
The ‘Places to Visit in February’ selected by the Korea Tourism Organization is scheduled to be posted on the organization’s website in February, and it is expected that it will be widely introduced to domestic and foreign tourists, leading to more tourists visiting the city.
Meanwhile, ‘Gunsan Time Travel’ centered around the downtown Modern Culture Street has established itself as a representative tourist destination in Korea, having been selected as one of the ‘100 Best Tourist Attractions in Korea’ three times in 2015, 2017, and 2019.
