1. Seohak-dong Art Village
36 Seohak 2-gil, Wansan-gu, Jeonju-si, Jeollabuk-do
▶I recommend looking around from Kim Seong-gyun’s Studio toward Namseong Church
Seohak-dong Art Village is an art village located on Seohak-ro, Wansan-gu, Jeonju-si, and the famous ‘Jeonju Hanok Village’ is located across from Jeonjucheon. If Jeonju Hanok Village is a place full of tourists, Seohak-dong Art Village is a famous Jeonju attraction known only to those in the know, as it is quiet and less crowded.

Seohak-dong Art Village used to be called a teacher’s village because many teachers and students lived there. It has a hanok gallery called ‘Seohak-dong Photography Art Museum’ that has been there for over 10 years, as well as a guesthouse, a sentimental cafe and gallery, and a unique workshop and prop shop where you can experience making things on the spot.

2. Seohak-dong Photo Studio
16-17 Seohak-ro, Wansan-gu, Jeonju-si, Jeollabuk-do Special Self-Governing Province
▶Opening hours: 10:30~18:00 | Closed on Mondays
Seohak-dong Photo Studio is a gallery that photographer Kim Ji-yeon, who ran the photography community museum ‘Gyenamjeongmiso’ in Jinan, renovated a hanok at the end of an alley in Seohak-dong and decorated it retro-style with an exhibition hall and cafe.

The Seohak-dong area used to be an underdeveloped area in Jeonju, but after 2010, artists began to gather here one by one, transforming it into a sensational art village. It is a hidden gem in Jeonju that maintains the retro feel of the desolate alleys while reinterpreting them in a modern way, and holds various exhibitions and exchange events by various artists.

3. Deokjin Park [Yeonhwajeong Library]
390 Gwonsamdeuk-ro, Deokjin-gu, Jeonju-si, Jeollabuk-do
▶Opening hours: 24 hours / Yeonhwajeong Library: 10:00-19:00 Closed on Mondays
▶Admission: Free
Deokjin Park, located on Paldal-ro, is a natural lake formed during the Goryeo Dynasty that was turned into an urban park in accordance with the Citizens’ Park Decision in April 1978. Along with Chwihyangjeong, it is a place with a long history. One of the most impressive things to see in Jeonju is the lotus flowers blooming in Deokjin Park.

The Deokjin Park Pond is a place that is worthy of being called a famous spot in Jeonju. In addition, there are nine stone monuments in Deokjin Park, including the “Children’s Charter,” “Sin Seok-jeong Poetry Monument,” “Gim Hae-gang Poetry Monument,” and “Statue of General Jeon Bong-jun.” Along with the scent of lotus flowers, it is developing into a cultural space that gives visitors a taste of Jeonju, establishing itself as a hot place in Jeonju.

4. Gogung Jeonju Main Branch
33 Songcheonjungang-ro, Deokjin-gu, Jeonju-si
▶Opening hours: 11:00~21:00
▶Jeonju Bibimbap Restaurant where you can be treated to a king’s table
Traveling can be enjoyed by visiting famous places here and there, but a gourmet tour in search of delicious food is also a part of the fun of traveling. For those who want to enjoy Jeonju’s specialty, “Jeonju Bibimbap,” we recommend “Gogung Jeonju Main Branch.”

‘Goldongban’ means that it is equipped with various precious things, and in the past, the bibimbap served to the king was called goldongban. Goldongban in Gogung is famous for reproducing the royal bibimbap with a modern sensibility.

Since it is a restaurant that is always listed on tourist guides, we recommend it as one of the must-visit places for those who want to try Jeonju’s authentic cuisine.
