How do I report lost items to the National Police Agency?
While searching for lost items at the National Police Agency, you may be curious about how to report lost items, so we will explain this method.
When an item is found, each institution stores it for 7 days (or immediately) in accordance with the Enforcement Decree of the Lost and Found Act, and if the person who lost it does not show up, the item is transferred to the competent police station or the Lost and Found Center (Seoul, Busan).
If you find a lost item and report it, the person who found it must visit the nearest police station (police station, district depot, or police box) to report the lost item and receive a storage certificate. To report a found item, you must visit the police station or a lost property processing agency in person with the item in question; online reporting is not possible.
If the owner renounces the right at the time of application and the lost person is not found within a period of 6 months, it will be returned to the national treasury, transferred, or destroyed.
Conversely, if the right to acquire the item is not waived at the time of application, if the lost item is found before the 6-month period has elapsed, a text message or e-mail notification will be sent and the lost item will be returned to the person who lost it. If the lost item cannot be found, it will be returned to the storage institution for 6 months. If the above period has elapsed, the acquirer acquires it.

When you fall asleep while riding the subway or have to get off in a hurry, you may leave things behind without taking them with you. In particular, it is said that the most frequently reported lost item is a wallet, second is a mobile phone, and third is a bag.
These days, as we use thin wallets, the transportation card inside the wallet often slips and falls out while swiping it at the ticket gate and putting it in a bag or pocket, so it is easy to lose it.
It is good to roughly check the lost time or location. To search for subway lost items, you must access the National Police Agency’s lost and found search site.
The reason is that since October 1, 2017, the Seoul Transportation Corporation’s lost and found system has been integrated and operated as LOST112.
