버스전용차로 위반 범칙금 Demerit Points and Fines for Bus-Only Violations How much are fines??

버스전용차로 위반 범칙금Exclusive bus lanes are lanes designed to allow buses to pass quickly, different from general lanes, and were created for the purpose of securing punctuality of bus operation and at the same time improving the transport capacity of public transportation.

Occasionally, you may see general vehicles driving in bus lanes because they do not know the standards for exclusive bus lanes or because general lanes are crowded.

Today, we will look at the level of demerit points, fines, and fines that are imposed when a general vehicle that does not comply with the bus-only standard is operating and is caught.

Vehicles that cannot pass through ‘bus-only lanes’ can be subject to crackdowns if they are operated during bus-only operating hours, and if caught, penalty points and fines will be imposed.

Exclusive bus lanes are largely divided into ‘general lanes’ and ‘expressways’. In case of violating the exclusive bus lanes for express buses, you must pay a fine of 70,000 won for vans and 60,000 won for passenger vehicles along with 30 penalty points.

On the other hand, if you violate the bus-only lane on a general road, you will receive 10 penalty points and a fine of 50,000 won for a van and 40,000 won for a passenger car, respectively.

Vehicles that can run on the officially operated bus lane are passenger cars and vans with 9 or more seats.

A 9-12-seater vehicle must have at least 6 people on board to use the exclusive lane, but the actual number of passengers must be investigated by the police.

There are rumors that drones can film the inside of a vehicle during a highway violation to find out whether there are actually more than six people in it, but this is not true and the police are not allowed to film the inside of the vehicle due to privacy concerns.

In case of violating the bus lane due to unavoidable reasons, if you submit a statement of opinion if you received a notice of fact and an application for objection along with supporting documents if you received a penalty notice, you can receive an exemption from imposing a fine after reviewing the details of your objection.

Exemption from fines for bus-only lanes includes cases where the car is stolen or for investigation of other urgent incidents/accidents.

If there is a reasonable reason to admit that the reason is unavoidable, the penalty can be waived only when the documents proving it are submitted.

We looked at the level of penalty points, fines, and fines that are imposed when a general vehicle that does not meet the standards for bus-only vehicles is operating and is caught. thank you
