When a new smartphone comes out, I use reviews as an excuse to buy it. In the case of Apple products, even if they are old, if they are in good condition, they can be sold at a higher price than expected, so there is less financial burden on purchasing new products. I recommend using the reset function provided by iOS rather than the cumbersome DFU (factory initialization) mode. Because that is enough. Before that, you have to do three things meticulously.
The first is Backup. It is optional. You must store the data stored on your existing device on the cloud (ex. iCloud) or PC. There is also a way to copy directly to a new device through migration, but iTunes (Windows) and Finder (macOS) are much more stable and faster to move large amounts of data in gigabytes (GB).
If you don’t need photos and videos that make up the majority of your data, you can ignore this process. Basic information stored in iCloud (contact, calendar, message, call history, app settings, etc.) is applied to the new iPhone as it is.
The second task is to disable the Find My iPhone function. If you reset the account immediately without logging out to be described later, the iPhone initialization method will become useless. This is because a window appears asking you to enter Apple ID and PW.
It doesn’t matter if you’re going to reuse it, but if you’re going to sell it to someone in a clean state like me, you have to carefully release it.

Next is the account logout. Think of Google Lock in the Android camp. This is the process of deleting basic data related to the logged-in account. Touch the button located at the bottom of the Apple ID tab you accessed in the second method. Then you are asked to choose whether to keep the copy or not, but you do not have to select all the items on the list as shown in the picture on the right.
If you have followed it well so far, the Settings tab will look like the picture above. You can proceed with the reset operation in this state. If the battery is low, it is advisable to connect the charging cable at this point.
Go to the General tab and select the Reset button.
One thing to note here is that in order to make it really clean, you have to touch ‘erase all content and settings’.
For reference, if you want a simple reset due to the slow speed of the device you were using, you can see the effect only with the first menu, ‘Reset All Settings’. Personal data and apps remain the same, so it’s good to reuse.
Now, when you enter the password for the last time, the iPhone factory initialization process will proceed automatically. You just have to wait until the phrase ‘Hello’ is displayed.
