OPIC is an English abbreviation for ‘Oral Proficiency Interview Computer’. It can be said to be ‘English speaking interview using a computer’. To put it simply, it is an ‘English speaking test.’ However, the test method is a face-to-face interview. In fact, when an AI character called ‘Ava’ comes out and asks a question, it answers within the time limit.
Here, OPIC is an objective language assessment tool that measures how well you can converse in English in real life rather than simply looking at grammar or vocabulary. For those who are good at English conversation, OPIC may be more advantageous than TOEIC Speaking. OPIC was introduced in Korea in 2007, and to this day, grades are required for evaluation by organizations or companies for employment.
Some people may think that OPIC is only available in English, but the test languages are English, Chinese, Russian, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, and Vietnamese. There are a variety of them. Next time, I want to study Chinese.
