Gwangmyeong City announced on the 10th that it will provide enlistment support of 100,000 won to citizens who enlist in the military.

The enlistment subsidy is a system introduced this year to support and encourage the preparation of Gwangmyeong citizens for military service and enlistment. For this purpose, the city enacted the ‘Gwangmyeong City Enlistment Subsidy Payment Ordinance’ in April.

Gwangmyeong Mayor Park Seung-won said, “Through the enlistment support fund, we hope to encourage young people in Gwangmyeong City to fulfill their military service obligations and increase their pride as Gwangmyeong citizens.”

Those eligible for payment are active duty, supplementary, alternative, full-time reserve, and boarding duty reserve service scheduled for enlistment (calling up), and are Gwangmyeong citizens who have resided in Gwangmyeong City for more than one year consecutively as of the date of application and are enlisted after September 13th.

Application begins on the 10th, and you can apply by visiting the Administrative Welfare Center at your address with your ID card and enlistment notice from the date of receipt of the enlistment notice until before the date of enlistment. If you are unable to apply before enlistment for unavoidable reasons, you can apply within 3 months after enlistment. In this case, a representative who meets the conditions, such as a direct ascendant or descendant, can apply on your behalf.

The subsidy is paid in Gwangmyeong Love Currency, the local currency of Gwangmyeong City, so you must sign up for the local currency before applying. It will be paid within 8 days from the date of application and can be used at local currency outlets within 3 years from the date of payment.
